Why Inclusive Innovation?
How it all started...
Background
Corporations have come to realize that serving the individualized needs of consumers requires them to offer products, services and experiences that have been customized to their requirements. This is more than just offering a Model T Ford in different colours, to meet customers’ tastes, but a recognition that individuals have different abilities, cultural and personal preferences that must be approached with care.
Partnership Development grant
The purpose of this Partnership Development Grant is to address conceptual and empirical gaps in knowledge on inclusive innovation and to develop experience and networks among current and aspiring innovation system actors to achieve the immediate outcome of increased inclusiveness in innovation and the long-term impact of a systemic transition to inclusive innovation.
The group of partners and individuals proposing this project are dedicated to bridging this divide within their contexts, and propose to come together under the umbrella of the Inclusive Innovation Hub (I2 Hub), developing shared understandings and important insights into “inclusiveness transitions”
Our project is focused on developing the relational and knowledge foundations required to enable the transition towards inclusiveness across national and global innovation system. Our purpose is to develop theory and practice towards inclusiveness transitions in innovation systems, and to provide spaces for interaction through a series of Inclusive Innovation Workshops (IIWs).
The workshops
We will focus on five (5) research themes; People, Activities, Outcomes, Communities and Governance, with specific partners, research and engagement activities and outcomes for each theme. IIWs will bring the partners on the project together to apply inclusive innovation concepts towards specific innovation challenges as identified by a partner organization (be they from the private, not-for-profit/community or government sectors).
Get thinking...
Questions that will be researched by each Theme

People
What are the catalysts of the transition to inclusive innovation?
Outcomes
Who or what (e.g. the environment) benefits from inclusive innovation?
